SwR is published quarterly. Authors receive nominal payment upon publication and five gratis copies of the issue(s) in which their work appears.
Typically, we open for submissions on December 1st. Please check our social media pages and websites for additional calls to submit. Due to the volume of submissions, the editors cannot respond with suggestions or comments.
Southwest Review welcomes all forms: fiction, nonfiction, poetry, comics, criticism, comics, and everything in between. Prose: 500–5000 words. Poetry: 1–3 poems.
